Economic democracy

Democratisation of corporate governance.

We have won political democracy - democratic representation in the governance of the state - through parliament and local councils. Though, if this were perfect, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

But we have not won economic democracy - democratic representation in those organisations which the state recognises as legal persons, and which could not exist without the state allowing their incorporation.

Without provisions for economic democracy - the replacement of "one pound, one vote" with "one person, one vote" - a written constitution will allow the rich and powerful to continue to rule by other means.
