The political system of the UK is and should be characterised by democratic decision-making.

The constitution should assert the value of democratic decision-making.

This value is short, clear and precise. Do people think this needs any further explanation or refining? JamesDoran can you take responsibility of refining this, if we believe there is a need to?

Thank you James. Could you please post a redraft as soon as possible?  It doesn't have to be long, it just has to say maybe a bit more about what democratic decision-making entails.

JamesDoran, I just wanted to let you know that if no final redraft will be posted by tomorrow I will need to take over and do it for you, since all ideas have to have to include a revised version before this phase of the project ends tomorrow night.

Since this phase ends today and I still have not received a redraft from you JamesDoran I will suggest the following redraft: "The political system of the UK is and should be characterised by democratic decision-making."

Please let me know if you are okay with this. And if others have another suggestion don't hesitate to bring it forward.
