World Governance and Collaboration

The Constitution should take account of the state of the world (for example climate change, global poverty, our capacity for violence, the continuing lack of adequate world governance with no improvement in sight at present).

Because of improving communications the world is 'getting smaller' and because of natural greed the world is living far beyond its natural resources. For reasons such as these there should be a general presumption in the rules on international relations in the constitution that it is good to collaborate with other states to gain common benefits.

We see states beginning to work together in Africa, South East Asia and South America, it is not only a European phenomenen, though Europe was first due to the continental initiative following our two disastrous wars and experience of invasion.

We should make every effort within our economic ability to improve world governance, modernise the United Nations and take an active part in the UN and other world institutions.

Facilitator's suggested clause:

"The UK should make every effort within its economic ability to improve world governance, modernise the United Nations and take an active part in the UN and other world institutions.

Collaboration between countries is paramount for this purpose"

There was an agreement that such a clause should appear in the preambles of the constitution.

Dear Alan could you draft a suggested clause regarding this idea?

what about this one:

"The UK should make every effort within its economic ability to improve world governance, modernise the United Nations and take an active part in the UN and other world institutions.

Collaboration between countries is paramount for this purpose"

Maybe this could be added in a preamble?
