Pay more for apprentices

There’s been a lot of focus on apprenticeships recently – especially as a viable alternative to a university education. But in order to make apprenticeship schemes appealing, should we be paying them more?

Should the government increase its subsidy? A strong trade/manufacturing aspect is part of Britain’s history, so should we pay more money for our apprentices given that they are likely to pay the country back ten-fold with their skills?
