Separate Capital City and Seat of Government

London - too South, too big, too remote from the lives of ordinary Britons.

London always has been and will be our capital city. It generates wealth very effectively, but it also drains resources and human capital from the regions and nations of the UK.

Second, our current houses of parliament are in parlous state physically, and it's hard to see how an ancient palace can ever be made git for purpose.

Relocation of the seat of Government to a purpose built complex away from London and the South East would go some way to solving both of these issues, as well as helping MPs to maintain a non-London centric perspective. It would also have the added benefit of significantly reducing the cost of government as advisors, departmental civil servants, administrative staff etc would no longer need to be paid London weighting.
