I think we need to update our national Union Jack to be a truly union flag. As it stands the Welsh flag is unincorperated in the Union JAck because of the Act of Union 1501 which has the St George's cross representing both Wales and England. I believe this attempt to ignore Welsh nationhood is an insult that should be rectified. I have attached an image of what this might look like. Please be aware that this flag was made as a possible flag should Scotland choose to leave the Union which...

There should be a series of requirements for a person to run for a seat as an MP or in the upper house (if the upper house is directly elected) set into the constitution. These qualifications should be simple and brief and should be as close to our current requirements as possible. The Candidate must be a minimum of 18 years old (or however old the voting age is) at the time of the election. The Candidate must be a UK/British Overseas/Commonwealth/Irish citizen at the time of the...

I think that the four countries of the UK should have their own official national anthems, decided by a referendum in the countries. I would argue that this would create a sense of uniqueness and nationality that will make people proud of where they came from. However it will also link us by our collective sense of Britishness. As such the main natonal anthem should be kept the same. The new anthems should be played at sports games and other such times that call for the anthem to be...

I have several points on what I think the local governmentof the United Kingdom should look like: Each district council should have an elected mayor. The metropolitan boroughs will be able to decide wheather they want an indivdual mayor or a metropolitan wide mayor (such as what the Greater Manchester Combined Authority wants). County Councils should be abolished and their powers transfered to the District Councils. The County Councils are mearly another level of beuocracy, and we...

The House of Lords should be replaced with a directly elected Senate. The members of this Senate should be elected from the Regions and Nations, 10-15 senators should be elected from each Region and Nation. The Senate should be modelled on the Unite States Senate, for instance a majority vote in the Senate is required to pass any bill that has already gone through the House of Commons. If a bill should fail then it can still be passed if it was a manifesto pledge by the ruling party or there...

We should replace the Monarch with a directly elected President after the current one has either passed or abdicated (be that Elizabeth or someone else).  The position of President should be open to any and all who wish to run for it, however there should be a banning on MP's and Lords running unless they have been out of Parliament for at least 5-10 years, this will enable the new President to be impartial. If the prospective President is a member of a political party he/she must resign...
