Let us light a candle rather than curse the darkness. Instead of blaming the common make-up of a Jury for the failings in the prosecution of complex cases, let us consider adding to the powers that juries in such complex trials have. Allow Juries to call their own witnesses and question them in camera. And/or Grant that such Juries be assisted by experts during the trial and during the verdict deliberations.

The police in Belgium (I think it was) stopped our Border Agency staff from checking passports in a train station. Those Police were upholding the rights of every EU Citizen to travel freely throughout the EU. 'Our' Law, our Courts, our Police do not operate to uphold the rights of the Citizen, but serve The Crown. This must change.
