Protection of morality has been the claimed motivation behind a variety of state interferences in the lives of ordinary people but morality and morals are not well-defined universally accepted concepts. Christians define morality in a particular way, Muslims in another, Atheists in another, Humanists in another and so on. The constitution should forbid parliament and other trappings of the state from any attempt to define or enforce any aspect of morality leaving such matters entirely to...

The current justice minister is the first in over 400 years without any legal training and it shows. The constitution should stipulate that anyone appointed to the position of justice minister should have to have a minimum level of legal training and qualification. This will help avoid embarrassments like arguing in court that because he makes the rules, he's entitled to ignore them as not applying to him.

Members of Parliament should not be paid salaries and expenses by the taxpayer. Instead they must fund their entire (including staff) cost themselves. Such funding must come either from the candidate's own personal, non-inherited, wealth or by private individual sponsorship with no individual's contribution being more than £1,000pa. This will help ensure that MPs are both competent and popular.

The raison d'etre of the United Kingdom government is to respect, protect and fulfil the human rights as defined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of its citizens and other persons under its influence. All other purposes are secondary to that and all actions or inactions must comply with those obligations.
